Memo #12: Sketchers investors get a sketchy deal
We can’t say we ever think about Sketchers, the sneaker brand that makes, famously, shoes for geriatrics and bizarrely often has an ad in Vogue alongside the usual spread of Bella Hadid in Dior, etc (perhaps this says more about Vogue’s print audience than anything else).
Of course, Sketchers also famously had Kim Kardashian endorse their “shape ups” range, which promised to make your butt look bigger (it did not, and the company ended up embroiled in litigation). They also sued L.L. Bean, that august American brand, for copying one of their shoe designs. For a geriatric shoe company, they’re in the news a lot.
